Sliding into an old, warm, comfortable glove

It’s been a while since I wrote the second book in the Magorian and Jones series.  Under one of my other pen names, I had foolishly committed to writing an entire series at the rate of a book a month, then capped the stupidity by putting the entire series up for pre-order.

The retail book sites, especially the Big River, tend to react badly if you miss your pre-order date, so I was stuck in writing hell for quite a while.

And no, I won’t be doing that again.

I managed to keep up some output as me, here.  The Harley Firebird series ticked over steadily.

But I was twitching to get back to Magorian and Jones.  I did wonder if, when I finally started book 3, I would have to reacquaint myself with all the little idiosyncrasies of the series.

As it turned out, nope, I didn’t.  I slid into the series like one slides their hand into an old, warm, comfortable glove.

The Shield of Agrona was released this morning and is now available everywhere.

They’re braced for threats from everywhere but between them.

The world’s first modern wizard, Benjamin Magorian, and Dr. Michael Jones have been licking their wounds and recovering from their near-fatal confrontation with the siren, Aurelius, at Pont du Gard, in France. But time is running out to save the fractured world of humans and Old Ones from Aurelius’ scheme to summon the old gods and avoid the destruction the gods would hail down upon every mortal, no matter what their race.

The two bend their talents and expertise to figuring out who Agrona’s shield might have been. Neither of them are braced against threats to their odd, but effective friendship, until Jamie ap Morningside, a lovely fae with deadly secrets, steps between them.

The race to find Agrona’s shield and keep it out of Aurelius’ hands appears to have foundered before it has properly begun…
